Events Management Training

The Events Management Training project worked with local ethnic community members, in partnership with multicultural and arts organisations and council and state support officers, to provide communities with hands-on, easy to understand information and training in planning and organising community events and festivals.

Workshops were held in Cairns, Townsville and Rockhampton and offered valuable information and advice on planning an event, developing a budget, seeking out funding, ensuring health and safety, promotion and marketing and much more. Workshops were well attended and attracted participants from members of Filipino, Somalia, Serbian, Chinese, German, Japanese, Dutch, Cook Island, Polish, Turkish, Spanish, African, Tamil, Aboriginal and Torres Strait and Bhutanese communities. Each participant received a Let’s make it happen! training manual developed specially for the project, which includes a range of handy event planning worksheets.

We are continue to work with local community members through the Strengthening Ethnic Community Associations (SECA) program.

This project was funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
