ACOSS glossary on sector development
ACOSS has developed a glossary of terms and their meanings that encompasses the breadth of sector development work currently underway in the social service and community sector. The glossary is a resource for the sector, setting out some of the key issues that are the subject of sector development work internally or in the development of policy and advocacy objectives for reform.

CALD Problem Gambling Awareness Campaign.
NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service and the Responsible Gambling Fund has begun work on the CALD Problem Gambling Awareness Campaign 2010, targeting the Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Italian and Vietnamese communities. The campaign will include a web-based program to help people determine their level of gambling use, with telephone numbers provided for in language counselling and community talks on problem gambling.
Covert and cyber bullying – Fact Sheet and Recommendations
This Fact Sheet dicusses the prevalance of covert and cyber bullying. It also briefly recommends some strategies that schools and parents could utilise to prevent covert and cyber bullying. The Fact Sheet was published by Australian Institute of Criminology in February 2010.

Free toolkit for new media projects
CuriousWorks have been building a model for integrating the active – rather than passive – use of new media into the everyday life of Australia’s most disadvantaged communities. It has recently launched a free resource, called the ‘CuriousWorks Toolkit’, to help make this possible. The toolkit is an online resource built in collaboration with community organisations that brings new media authorship into communities’ hands for the long term. It’s freely available for use by youth workers, communities, schools, councils, artists and media makers.

Parenting Handbook for Muslim Parents and Service Providers
This new resource which has been developed and prepared by the Al-Nisa Youth Group, which is a community based organisation providing programs, services and activities for the Muslim community in the Greater Brisbane region. This booklet has transformed the Triple P program to make it more relevant to the Muslim communities in Queensland.
Parenting in a new culture
The Parenting in a New Culture – the preschool age was a project initiated, developed and completed in 2004 by the Migrant Resource Centre. The project targeted migrant community groups whose cultural and social values regarding parenting and families are quite different from mainstream Australian cultural and social values and norms. Parenting guidebooks in English and Congolese (Swahili, French) Burundian (Swahili, Kirundi) Liberian Sierra Leonean, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin) and Samoan community languages have been developed.
Pave the Way project
Pave the Way is a project that is part of Mamre Association. We work with families throughout Queensland from culturally and linguistically backgrounds. who have a relative with a disability. We can assist families with planning and developing networks and circles of support. We also provide information including legal information about wills and estate planning and guardianship issues. We offer workshops and information sessions throughout the state and have staff members who visit different regions. We have some information available in a range of community languages
PAWES Basketball is an Association targeting at risk and marginalized young people to positively interact with the community by providing them recreation and educational sessions on related issues they may face, do face and where to seek support and help to deal with their matter/s.
Pets in Crisis – Domestic Violence Program provides a safe house for the pets of individuals at serious risk of domestic violence. The program was born of the knowledge that many women delay or do not seek refuge for themselves due to a lack of options for the care of their pets. Pets in Crisis provides immediate and temporary accommodation via RSPCA Qld’s Foster Care Program, during which time all pets are health checked, treated and fostered by trained, caring volunteers until they can be returned to their owners. The pet’s family can seek refuge with the help of dvconnect, secure in the knowledge that their beloved pet has not been left behind to face injury or cruelty.
