People in Australia from a CALD background often face additional challenges finding employment. Factors such as not getting skills-recognition for qualifications acquired overseas and not having work experience in Australia are only a few.
ECCQ works passionately to support CALD communities and to create a more fair and equal Queensland. The Bright Future Project led by Zack Sohrabi is one of ECCQ’s many endeavours to create better opportunities for multicultural Queenslanders. We are now delivering Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) for the third year in a row.
Last year 31 out of 34 participants (91.1%) secured employment as a result of completing the program and obtained local qualifications. Some participants had been unemployed for up to seven years prior to commencing the program in spite of having high-level qualifications from abroad.
