AusCongo BeConnected Program Launch

On Monday 15 October AusCongo Network successfully launched their BeConnected Program at Redbank Plains Community Centre to help their senior community members get online and stay in touch with technology in a rapidly changing world.

ECCQs Multicultural Sector Development Program has supported AusCongo Network and worked together to see the BeConnected Program come to fruition.

Nearing the end of the program launch, senior community members attended an informal interactive learning session Google maps.

The program launch was supported and attended by representatives from ECCQ, MDA, Primary Health Networks, the Department of Human Services and AusCongo.

The BeConnected Program is an Australian Government initiative aimed to increase computer literacy and online confidence and safety for older Australians. In a world where we are all becoming increasingly dependent on the internet, it is vital that we do not leave our senior community members behind, but help them with the challenges of keeping up in our fast paced world. This program will foster digital inclusion and bridge the digital divide among community members that due of their age experience increasing social and technological isolation.

The AusCongo BeConnected Program will focus on:

-Online safety.

-Connecting and communicating with family and friends.

-Making new and re-establishing old connections.

-Keeping up to date with their communities and what is happening in the world.

-Accessing services, and safely buying and selling online.
