ECCQ is part of the Aged Care Navigators Trial established by the Australian Government to help older Australians learn more about government supported aged care programs and how to access them.
With funding from the Brisbane South Primary Health Network, ECCQ is assisting service providers, Logan Area Committee on the Ageing (LACOTA) and the Donald Simpson Centre (DSC), with making aged care information available and relevant to culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Information seminars and support sessions are currently being delivered across the Brisbane South region with a targeted focus in the Logan and Cleveland regions.
ECCQ successfully organised two information seminars and one support session to people from the Burmese and Chin-Zomi communities in Logan and Cleveland. Community members were able to get valuable information about available services and care and access assessment procedures. They also learned how to register with My Aged Care. Through these sessions, community members have an opportunity to provide feedback on their diverse needs to ensure better access and support to aged care services.
